Trapped Under Ice
From MetallicaWiki
Trapped Under Ice is the fifth track on Metallica's 1984 album Ride The Lightning. The lyrics is about a person trapped in a cryogenics chamber.
It is based upon a demo song of Hammett's former band Exodus entitled "Impaler", which was later released on its album Tempo of the Damned (2004).
Until the World Magnetic Tour, it had only ever appeared 5 times in its entirety in Metallica's live sets. James Hetfield commented on the song appearing once again on their live show's setlist on stage with: "Some guy asked us to play this song before the show. We haven't played it in like 15 years. So don't blame us for the fuck ups."
Lyrics
I don't know how to live through this hell Woken up, I'm still locked in this shell Frozen soul, frozen down to the core Break the ice, I can't take anymore Freezing, can't move at all Screaming, can't hear my call I am dying to live Cry out I'm trapped under ice Crystallized as I lay here and rest Eyes of glass stare directly at death From deep sleep I have broken away No one knows, no one hears what I say Freezing, can't move at all Screaming, can't hear my call I am dying to live Cry out I'm trapped under ice Scream from my soul Fate mystified Hell forevermore No release from my cryonic state What is this? I've been stricken by fate Wrapped up tight, cannot move, can't break free Hand of doom has a tight grip on me Freezing, can't move at all Screaming, can't hear my call I am dying to live Cry out I'm trapped under ice
