St. Anger
From MetallicaWiki
St. Anger is the eight studio album by Metallica. It was released in 2003, almost 6 years after its predecessor, ReLoad. The recording process was long and painful, as long time bass player Jason Newsted left the band when they were about to enter the studio, and soon after that James Hetfield entered the rehab for alcoholism and other addictions.
The album met with very mixed critical reviews. The band itself stopped performing songs off St. Anger almost entirely with the end of the Madly In Anger With The World Tour.
It was the last album produced by Bob Rock; its follow-up, Death Magnetic, was produced by Rick Rubin.
