Lars Ulrich

Lars Ulrich is a drummer and co-founder (with James Hetfield) of Metallica. He was born in Gentofte, Denmark on December 26, 1963. Lars moved from Denmark to Los Angeles, California with his family when he was 17 years old.

Lars met with James after publishing an ad in The Recycler, a local newspaper. The two then founded Metallica together.

Metallica is the only band Lars has ever played in.

Lars is the first Dane ever inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Personal life

Lars has been married twice, first to Debbie Jones for two years (from 1988 to 1990). His second wife was Skylar Satenstein, to whom Lars had been married 1997 to 2004.

Lars has three children - 2 with Skylar, the third one, Bryce Thadeus Ulrich-Nielsen, with his current girlfriend and partner Connie Nielsen, a Danish actor famous from the movie Gladiator, who he have had a relationship with since early 2004. Connie has an older son Sebastian from her previous marriage.

Lars' father Torben, a former professional tennis player, well known among Metallica fans since the Some Kind of Monster documentary movie, remains to have a great influence on his son.
