June 6, 2009: Mexico City, Mexico
From MetallicaWiki
This was the second show at Mexico City's Foro Sol stadium, out of three, that Metallica played in June 2009. However, it was the first one that went on sale (the second one being the June 7 show and the third one the first actually played, the June 4 show).
The concert was announced on Metallica's official website on March 21, 2009:
Ten years is way too long, so needless to say, we can't wait to get back to Mexico City on June 6 at Foro Sol for an outdoor show.
The band performed a very different setlist, making this only the second show since the release of Death Magnetic nine months ago, that was not opened with the usual pair of opening songs, "That Was Just Your Life" and "The End Of The Line." "Creeping Death" and "For Whom The Bell Tolls" were used instead, which was very reminiscent of the setlists performed during the short European summer tours in the period from 2006 to 2008.
Just as with the other two Mexico City performances, the show was filmed by Wayne Isham for a live DVD. According to MetOnTour, a helicopter was used on this night to shoot an audience from a bird's perspective.
