Metallica performed in Nimes, France, on July 7, 2008. The show was filmed and will be released on DVD and Blu-ray discs as Francais Pour Une Nuit on November 23, 2009. (See the official announcement.) The concert took place at the ancient Arena of Nîmes as a part of the European leg of the World Magnetic Tour.
The MetClub tickets presale started on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at 10am local time and ended on December 4 at 8pm local time. The public presale began on December 5, 2008 at 10am local time and was held by Ticket Sud. There were two ticket prices: €60.50 for a standing ticket and €69.30 for a seating ticket. The show was sold out.
The official website confirmed on May 27, 2009 that this show would be filmed (along with the three Mexico City shows) and possibly released on a DVD. [1] It was later announced that the DVD would be released on October 19, 2009 and available through French retailers, as well as online stores.
Although Mastodon and Lamb of God were originally announced as support acts, the French bands M.O.P.A. and Mass Hysteria opened the show instead.
On October 10, 2009, more than a month prior to the release of Francais Pour Une Nuit live DVD, the French TV channel Canal+ broadcast most of the songs from the show. TV rips started to circulate on the Internet almost immediately.
