Reviews

  • Lords of metal rule again - Metallica returns in somewhat altered form (published by FinancialPost.com on December 8 2008):

With this year's much-hyped Death Magnetic, an album that has been revered as Metallica's true return to form, there was much to be hopeful for.

The problem -- and it was apparent as the band kicked off their set with the likes of That Was Just Your Life and The End of the Line -- is that Metallica's new material is almost too complex for its own good.

That being said, Metallica still manages to put on one hell of a concert, no matter what tracks are involved, and Sunday night's was no exception.

  • Metallica: monster metal - Young and old fans alike drawn into Metallica's Death Magnetic (published by EdmontonSun.com on December 8, 2008):

Combined with the deafening cheers and chants of the crowd itself - both sonically and visually part of the show, as the lucky floor-access people surrounded a central stage on four sides, seething like a stormy sea - and the sheer excitement of finally getting a damned arena concert in this town that rocked, this was an evening of the finest that heavy metal can offer.
