Dave Mustaine was a lead guitarist of Metallica and a co-author of many early songs. He also experimented with vocals.

Mustaine was kicked out of the band because of his excessive alcoholism and tensions between him and James and Lars. Kirk Hammett replaced him shortly before Metallica entered studio to record the debut album Kill 'Em All.

He then founded another important thrash metal band, Megadeth.

The last performance of Dave Mustaine with Metallica was on April 9, 1983. However, 27 years later, on June 22, 2010, he was a part of the Big Four joint performance of "Am I Evil?" towards the end of Metallica's show. In addition to playing his guitar, Dave also sang choruses during this performance.

Mustaine was born on September 13, 1961 in La Mesa, CA, USA.
